Learn moreI have worked in Family Law in Kent since 2012, initially as a Paralegal, before qualifying as a Solicitor in 2013. I have a wealth of experience in a broad spectrum of Family Law work, including but not limited to, Divorce and the finances (such as the Family Home, pensions and motor vehicles), Family Law Act injunctions and assisting separated couples resolve disputes regarding their home (known as TOLATA cases) and child arrangements.
I have represented clients all over Kent including the Medway towns, Ashford, Folkestone, Hythe and the Romney Marsh. Before recently moving across to work as a Consultant, I was a Partner at Bowers & Jessup Solicitors, Folkestone, where I practiced for 6 years. I made the decision to become a Consultant so that I could leave behind the management and bureaucracy of running a traditional high street practice and focus on my clients, their cases and my professional development.
I am a very compassionate, non-judgmental person and I get a real sense of achievement helping my clients through what is often a very turbulent and emotional time in their lives. I learnt very early in my career that managing my clients expectations right from the start is absolutely essential to building trust and maintaining a brilliant client-solicitor relationship throughout the case.
I do not believe in arguing a point that holds no merit. I am transparent and realistic about costs. I am a very organised, motivated professional who will strive for the best possible outcome for my client, so that they can move forward with their lives with peace of mind. I am an approachable, down to earth solicitor and I talk to my clients clearly, explaining legal terms in the easiest possible way, adapting the process to meet the needs of my clients whenever necessary.
I encourage my clients to put the needs of their children at the forefront of their minds at all times, and endeavour to create an environment that is conducive to them being able to reach an agreement by consent, without the need for costly and time consuming court proceedings. I fully appreciate however that there are certain cases that unfortunately can only be resolved with court intervention.
My favourite area of family law is the finances in divorce cases; I particularly enjoy negotiating terms of a financial settlement known as ‘consent orders’.
I find that the charity work I do in my spare time gives me a greater understanding of many of the complex emotional and financial difficulties many families are facing.
I grew up in Hythe and the Romney Marsh. I went to Southampton and then London to study before moving back to Kent. I enjoy spending much of my free time outdoors, on long walks and bike rides in the countryside and coastline which we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep. I also practise yoga and snowboarding when possible.
